With the nights getting longer and the days cooling, you might be tempted to hibernate for winter. But don’t pack away your swimmers just yet the sun is still shining and the water is a tepid 25’c. Here are our 10 reasons why you need a Gold Coast winter migration.
1. The Gold Coast beaches are calling

Try Blues on Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise Live, Gold Coast Marathon, the Gold Coast Film festival, the International Boat show at Sanctuary Cove or even the Australian open bowls.
5. Hinterland day trips
Tiring of the sand, surf, and the sun? It's time to head to the hills and explore the magic of the Gold Coast Hinterland. Take a walk through World Heritage rainforests at Lamington and Springbrook national parks, see cascading waterfalls or grab a scone and a cup of tea at beautiful Mount Tambourine after visiting the botanical gardens.
6. Catch a game
The Gold Coast stadium is welcoming two national teams to our sunny shores this winter. Join us on June 26 for the Titans vs Raiders for a Sunday afternoon showdown, bring the family and enjoy all the off-field action as well. League not your thing? Head out on 23 April and watch the Gold Coast Suns clash with North Melbourne. Enjoy a night out with free public transport (included with every pre-purchased tickets), live music and all the action and excitement.
7. Visit Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk
If you headed out for a hinterland day trip then you know how delightful the Gold Coast is. For a truly magical experience try the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk - a one and a half kilometre rainforest walking experience which includes the Skywalk Bridge, the 40 metre Skywalk Cantilever and the Cedar Creek Viewing Platform. The platforms are joined by a winding pathway along the canopy floor. The walk is a breathtaking way ti take in the pristine beauty of the rainforest and is certainly worth a visit.
8. Gold Coast dining
From opulent waterfront dining to the some of the tastiest on-the-go street food, the Gold Coast dishes up an endless and succulent buffet for locals and travellers alike. Make a memory at the amazing Dracula’s cabaret restaurant, pull up a water view table at Oskars at Burleigh, enjoy a wine with a tasty meal at O’Reily’s Canungra Valley vineyards or grab some takeaway, pull up a bench and people watch on Cavill Ave.
9. Ride along the Gold Coast Esplanade
There’s no better way to explore the Gold Coast’s distinct neighbourhoods than by hiring a bike and putting rubber to the pavement with pedal power. Enjoy the chilled surfer vibes of Burleigh Heads and Nobby Beach, cruise the bustling Surfers Paradise or head to Broadbeach and soak up the hip, new, trendy new vibe.
